Now, I am personally of the opinion that DmC(Dante) is basically a more indepth, cynical, and down-to-earth version of DMC3(Dante).
But here's a more detailed look at him.
Attire: Usual wears black jeans, combat boots, gray tank top, finger-less gloves, while sporting the necklace given to him by his mother.
His coat is what I think is most interesting, because when he stands still it doesn't look all that impressive or just like a regular coat.
Only when he starts to move around/fight does it look cool.
Physical Appearance: Looks to be about six feet tall with a moderately above average build, full head of white hair, square jaw, and a glowing tattoo on his back.
His eyes actually have two colors.(The inside being red surrounded by blue)
Back-story: His life growing up could be summed up in one simple word: Sh!t
After his parents were "Killed", and his memory was wiped, he was(un-intentionally) sent to a foster home run by demons.
Was tortured and starved by them because of his rebellious attitude and non-human attributes.
Because of this he suffered severe mental and physical trauma.(It is hinted that Dante delved into self-harm.)
He began to fight back in his mid to late teens, when(most likely) his more combat oriented abilities started to develop.
Superior strength, speed, reflexes, durability, regeneration, etc
Because of his rough childhood he starts out not really caring about what happens to humanity because they either:
Personality: He is(Like Classic Dante) a joker, his jokes sometimes being vulgar or raunchy in nature. But more often than not, they are just corny.
Is most of the time laid back and easygoing, but gets serious when innocents/comrades are in danger.
And can be a little cynical because of his harsh upbringing.
An easily noticed similarity to the Classic Dante is that the new one likes to taunt enemies.
But unlike in the original series where this was displayed in game-play by giving the player a taunt button, which would make Dante do a variety of phrases and gestures.
In DmC, Dante has a variety of scripted sayings that can be heard in combat in a variety missions, including: Missions 1,4,6,8,9,13,14, and 16
Relationships: Vergil
Childhood friend and younger brother. Was a loyal comrade and leader in the operation of killing Mundus and exposing the demons to humanity.
Introduced Dante to his old home, helping Dante remember what happened to him.
Dante has on several occasions disagreed with Vergil on what should and should not be done.
Dante ends up fighting(and beating) Vergil when Vergil reveals that he wants to control humanity.
inadvertently killing Vergil later on.
Kat
A very close and one of Dante's only friends. Was a loyal comrade in the operation of killing Mundus and exposing the demons to humanity.
Saved Dante's life on several occasions using her own abilities.
Helps Dante realize he wasn't the only that had it bad, and that all of humanity was suffering because of Mundus and his legion.
Also, it was confirmed by developers that Kat was not Dante's love interest.(And on that day Alittleacorn shed a single tear.)
And that fact is clearly seen in game.
Phineas
An acquaintance of Dante's. Was vital in Dante finding the key to his true potential.(DT) and providing Dante with information about his own race.(Nephalem)
Also helped Dante realize that not all demons are evil.
(I shall provide pics to go along with the analysis soon.)

- Contributed to his tortured
- Turned a blind eye to it.
- Were completely brainwashed and oblivious to what was really going on in the world.
