Additional Devil May Cry Classic/Reboot Comparisons

Alittleacorn

Smile it confuses people
I realized I missed a really important similarity of the Classic to the Reboot, and decided to make an extra little video on it. Consider it a DLC to the main video XP

There is another one included on the design of Dante's collar, but the main focus is Doppelganger. Not only the Doppelganger Dante encountered in DMC3...

But the capabilities both Vergil and Nero have of spectral projections.

An official Devil May Cry art book made confirmation about Nero being Vergil’s son, assumingly the same rules will apply in this reboot as well since no relations differed in the reboot because Dante and Vergil are still brothers [with the acception of the game implying Mundus and Sparda may or maybe not be sibling with the term blood brother that is used]. If Nero does eventually show up spotting that same Devil Trigger ability or a form of doppelganger whether in likeness to Vergil's original Devil Trigger appearance, does it mean this is an early indication during Vergil's boss battle that a rebooted Nero would inherit this ability from his daddy?

Another thing is the two appear to draw power from Yamato for this ability to work, like it is the trigger. Although in Vergil's case from Downfall, he needed additional help of the amulet that he lost to reacquire doppelganger [however, it's difficult to tell how solid this is with the main game as the whole of Vergil's Downfall took place in Vergil's mind, but none the less still plays a factor.]

Even so, both seemingly need Yamato to activate their Devil Triggers. Nero only gains this ability when he possesses Vergil’s sword. Without he is powerless to free himself from The Savior until Dante shoots it in for him. For Vergil in DmC we've not yet seen him powerless without the sword. The only acception we could give is perhaps when Dante stabs him at the end of the game and he drops Yamato, rendering him weaponless and powerless against Dante killing him.

Also there's also the thing where Vergil's teleporting ability is similar to the gusts of smoke create by Doppelganger in DMC3...but, hell am I making another video for that @.@

Theory time. What are your opinions on this?

The spectral projection around nero isn't vergil's doppelganger (I think that's what your video was implying?), it's vergil's DT form. There was some artist ret-con to make it look more impressive in DMC4, but certain key features are still recognizable, mainly the arm sheath.

But the capabilities both Vergil and Nero have of spectral projections.

Vergil's DT concept in DmC comes from the idea that he was a leader of the order and uses people to get his job done. It's quite evident from this vergil concept.

Vergil from DMC 3 was a loner who researched on his father and his demonic heritage when arkham decided to support him. Well, he eventually got stabbed by vergil which means he never trusted anyone and worked alone.

Nero's DT projection is a father figure where it is assumed that the projection wields yamato and not nero wielding it. The father figure concept comes from idea of nero being vergil's son(DMC 3 Vergil and not DmC Vergil).

Conceptually, DT of nero and DT of DmC vergil are very different and are in no way similar.

Another thing is the two appear to draw power from Yamato for this ability to work, like it is the trigger. Although in Vergil's case from Downfall, he needed additional help of the amulet that he lost to reacquire doppelganger [however, it's difficult to tell how solid this is with the main game as the whole of Vergil's Downfall took place in Vergil's mind, but none the less still plays a factor.

No. Devil trigger of vergil is inherited from sparda's demonic heritage. Yeah, the amulet reacted when dante got his DT in DmC. So it is safe to say, amulet is a part of source for DT in DmC. But not yamato. Nero's source of demonic abilities is from his arm. Source of arm is unknown. Nero had demonic abilities even before acquiring yamato. However nero's devil trigger uses yamato. Nero does not draw power from yamato. Nero draws power from his demonic arm.

Yamato is jus a weapon that vergil used. As per the classic demonic cases, demonic powers get sealed with weapons that demons use once they die or seal away their demonic potential. Like sparda's DT is in sparda sword. When dante uses sparda sword and DTs, he takes sparda form or is chanelling sparda.Which is why arkham and vergil wanted to acquire sparda's sword to inherit sparda's power. Sparda's sword would jus be a weapon if it is not bound by sparda's DT.

So , Vergil does not draw power from yamato, neither does nero.

Again, Vergil does not draw power from yamato.

Also, Nero had yamato when he faced off saviour in mission 10 or 11 but still could not defeat saviour. In the process, yamato was taken away from nero. It's not cuz he lost yamato that he could not free himself, he was en-gulped sub-consciously in saviour's core and dante freed nero from the core.

Dante: If you can't beat it from outside, you gotta take it out from the inside.( Or so were his words)

Dante freed nero from the core. Ofcourse, nero getting yamato was a plot element that nero was to be played with in remaining missions and it would be plot hole if nero DTs with yamato but the story is such that dante still holds yamato. It's quite well thought.
