A DmC Theory on: Gilver and Tony Redgrave

BLACKSWIPE

"Waiting for one's arrival."
This probably belongs in another thread somewhere, but I thought that it might have been a good way to start on a new topic.

First off, I'll get right to the point.

I think that it would be interesting for Vergil to become Gilver. There are some theories below, so beware if that isn't your thing!

Vergilgilver-1.jpg

As we know both Dante and Vergil are Nephilim, beings that are both angel and devil. Dante unlocked both sides of his power in the main game, and Vergil did the same in Vergil's Downfall by symbolically destroying his 'humanity' and what ties he had left to his family and Kat. Since both Dante and Vergil house all of this conflicting power within their bodies, I thought that it might be interesting to maybe see consequences for using such powers. As a result of letting his demonic heritage take over, part of Vergil's face became heavily poisoned and started to rot. Before long part of his face was now missing, exposing part of his lower jaw and rotting some of the skin around his right eye.

As a result of this, Vergil wrapped up his face and got rid of his flamboyant suit for another that was less flashy, yet stylish and tasteful. I feel like this would be a really interesting change to see in Vergil, and that it would be an interesting character design to look at in game. As the game goes on, Vergil loses more and more of his face until the rot now consumes him and he becomes Nelo Angelo.

Dante could also become Tony Redgrave, after still being suspected as a terrorist even after he destroyed the empire of Mundus. During this time, Dante could become more refined and dress a little more professionally. He's still the character that we knew in DmC, but he isn't as cocky yet he still retains a confident air about him (and is still a bit vulgar). During this time he learns to maintain his body and keep an equal balance between both his demonic and angelic powers, unlike Vergil who became Gilver and lost himself to his demonic blood. Unlike Vergil who thought he had true power, Dante would reach it by maintaining a harmony between his own two powers.

This is just a fan theory though, thought I'd post it here!

Turn it into DMC....got it!

Not necessarily, for Vergil it's was more of an ascetic change that slowly drives him into madness, which then eventually leads to his change into Nelo Angelo. In the original DMC, the events with Gilver aren't considered to be canon at all, and Nelo Angelo was actually the result of Mundus forcing Vergil to become his knight. In this theory, Vergil willingly gives himself to his own power after being driven into near madness. His demon powers are dominant, and have nearly suppressed and destroyed his angelic side. After giving in and becoming Nelo Angelo, his madness is gone and only Vergil can only feel calamity.

Dante for the most part would remain the same, only he'd become a bit more of a mature guy, and learn how to manage both sides of his being (Although Dante in DMC originally did this with his human/demon sides.) If anything he becomes more human than demon or angel.
