With Halloween tomorrow, maybe you're wanting to sit down and watch some good ol horror movies. Sure, stuff like John Carpenter's Halloween and other classic horror films are practically tradition, but I'm here to toss out some recommendations of horror and thriller flicks that may be overlooked or obscure to the general movie public.
1. A Tale of Two Sisters

This Korean movie is one of the most well crafted films I've seen. Beautifully made and greatly creepy for you folks looking for a good spook. Two sisters return home from a psych ward to deal with dark and disturbing events involving them and their strange stepmother.
2. Noroi:The Curse

-Now, I'm not a fan of the found footage genre, but occasionally you can find some gems in it. Noroi The Curse is one of those. Noroi has a rather steady build up, but throughout you're treated to some pretty weird and bizarre stuff going on that raises the creep factor for you scary peeps. All building up to a climax that will have people going WTF in a good way. Noroi is a pretty good horror flick that appreciates the quality of slow burn scares. Check it out.
3. I Saw The Devil

-Now, not really a horror, but more a thriller and a brutal one at that. I Saw The Devil is one of my favorite films of all time and one of the best serial killer flicks since Se7en. After a ruthless serial killer murders a Korean agent's pregnant fiancee he swears vengeance to make him suffer. Unlike other revenge thrillers, killing this guy is too good and he can only do it once. He wants to turn his life in t a living nightmare before he gets rid of him. Making for a unique revenge quest and one that definitely can keep you on the edge of your seat with tension. I Saw The Devil is amazing.
4.You're Next
http://joannapary.files.wordpress.com/2014/02/youre-next.jpg
-It's not Halloween without at least one slasher flick right? However, You're Next is a little different being a rather smart and interesting slasher flick. A family is attacked by a few crossbow and machete wielding maniacs during a family dinner so they fight to survive. The cool thing about You're Next is that it doesn't fall in to silly horror cliches. The characters aren't stupid making dumb "horror movie decisions" and the fight to survive is a believable one. Throw in a badass female lead and some twist to keep things interesting, You're Next proves you can take even the most trite formulas and make them good.
5. Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil

-Tucker and Dale is a horror comedy, but it still counts. I gotta say, I really had a lot of fun with this flick. Two bumbling and likable hillbillies go out in to the woods for some relaxation where a group of teens mistake them for psychotic killers and hilarity ensues. It reverses the roles of horror movie characters and has fun with it all.
So, I'll cut my list here, but I hope I maybe gave you Halloweenies some nice suggestions and have fun! Happy Halloween!
