Not really, painting is better done with a graphic tablet when you work on a computer. The only thing I can think of that I do with mouse is pixel art. All in all SAI is great for digital art and I'd recommend it to anyone who only wants to paint, because it's not as good for retouching or graphic design work to my knowledge.

It is in fact a really good alternative, for painting. In parts even better then PS. I'm still thinking of getting it myself, even though I already got Photoshop for my Drawing and painting stuffs.

it's good for sketching and tracing imo, it's pencil like, the lines where it starts and end is softer and narrower --dunno how to describe it.. since you own a pen tool of some sort i think you should try it

I had the trial once, what you mean is probably the pen pressure, which PS has as well. SAI has some really cool Marker and Watercolor Brushes which PS doesn't have though.

you might be interested in https://inkscape.org/de/ this program, it's vector based, which I find easier to use with a mouse most of the time, I'm currently looking into it, I'll let you know if it's good or not.

Seems to be quite usable with the mouse. You should give it a try!

lol, it was pen pressure? so it's actually on the pen and not the program? silly me.. i'm very much unfamiliar with vector, can't even operate corel or that adobe one, gave up after few tries..

nah it's on the program, but it's a function only usable with the tablet.
I'd recommend working with vector software (at least if you want clean linework). If you really want that painterly look, then there is no way around getting a tablet.

yeah, agree, i was tryin to get those soft light colored water painting style, blew it.. but i need to work more on coloring first.. and it's not wise getting gadgets/electronics when dollar is high here..

Then I'd recommend working on paper actually. Sounds stupid, but if it's about coloring and getting a feel for color theory and stuff, then there is no better way to learn. Besides all that knowledge carries over to digital later.

yea, that's what my conciense even telling me, but since it's actually harder for me doing it traditionally, i think i'll cheat and go digital instead, ofc i'll spare time learning traditional coloring

there is no cheating lol, only work and practice.
I'm not that good with traditional mediums myself, I needed to find the ones that were suitable for me, those were acrylics, pencils and markers.
