It appeals to western audience, it certainly does. Maybe they are kinda burned out by now, but they did rake in some nice profit, becoming Universal's biggest franchise of all time (or so wikipedia says). I personally don't really enjoy movies focusing on racing, would rather be behind the wheel myself, but my dad and brother love it.

oh, most stuffs i read on the internet is that appeals more to asian, and those who stars in it were never involved in bigger productions, so i would guess the same too.. and now that you've said that, i suppose it don't appeal to certain western audience.. and the series was more about heist instead of racing imo, at the same time they indeed involves cars, fast cars and --racing, lol..
