I've criticized Adi before the show released, but also given credit when it was due. We have often interacted with each other.
I was really enjoying the show and was about to apologize to him publicly for being quite ruthless at times, and give it a solid 7/10 score. I even felt it was superior to the original 2007 anime in various ways.
The fight scenes were cool and I am so glad Dante uses various weapons, Dante's design is cool, the jokes are great I especially liked the one about Dante's white hair and the rabbit was a very well designed and written villain. The way Rabbit told Dante that Vergil was alive was also incredible. The animation was solid too.
I had some issues, I didn't like how Mary says "****" more than reboot Dante, neither did I like the designs for the soldier uniforms or Dante's DT, and didn't care much for music besides "afterlife".
You might think "Why hate the show then? sounds like you liked most of it"
Because Adi did the most offensive lazy trope of all. Turn the devout Christian character into a bad guy YET he claims often he has no issue with Christians, but clearly he is lying. Whether you are religious or not, many will agree that the "Christian bad" trope is overdone and lazy. Jewish Rabbi's are statistically 80% more likely to sexually assault a child than a priest, the majority of terrorist who murder others in the name of God are Muslim, but will we see those being equally represented as villains? No. To those who think I am being paranoid, ask yourself why there's no holy water in the bullets but there is weird green goo, despite the fact that never appears in the games. Some might argue that in history there have been bad people that claim to be Christian, but then I ask you why these Netflix shows never make Muslims or Jewish Rabbi's the bad guys considering they have done incredibly evil things throughout history.
I am not trying to cause some debate about religion here. I find this to be a stupid lazy story telling.
