I've criticized Adi before the show released, but also given credit when it was due. We have often interacted with each other.

I was really enjoying the show and was about to apologize to him publicly for being quite ruthless at times, and give it a solid 7/10 score. I even felt it was superior to the original 2007 anime in various ways.

The fight scenes were cool and I am so glad Dante uses various weapons, Dante's design is cool, the jokes are great I especially liked the one about Dante's white hair and the rabbit was a very well designed and written villain. The way Rabbit told Dante that Vergil was alive was also incredible. The animation was solid too.

I had some issues, I didn't like how Mary says "****" more than reboot Dante, neither did I like the designs for the soldier uniforms or Dante's DT, and didn't care much for music besides "afterlife".

You might think "Why hate the show then? sounds like you liked most of it"

Because Adi did the most offensive lazy trope of all. Turn the devout Christian character into a bad guy YET he claims often he has no issue with Christians, but clearly he is lying. Whether you are religious or not, many will agree that the "Christian bad" trope is overdone and lazy. Jewish Rabbi's are statistically 80% more likely to sexually assault a child than a priest, the majority of terrorist who murder others in the name of God are Muslim, but will we see those being equally represented as villains? No. To those who think I am being paranoid, ask yourself why there's no holy water in the bullets but there is weird green goo, despite the fact that never appears in the games. Some might argue that in history there have been bad people that claim to be Christian, but then I ask you why these Netflix shows never make Muslims or Jewish Rabbi's the bad guys considering they have done incredibly evil things throughout history.

I am not trying to cause some debate about religion here. I find this to be a stupid lazy story telling.

We could spend 100 more years talking about Christian hypocrisy and it still wouldn't be enough. There are plenty of reasons to dislike Adi Shankar even without the point you're making.

Well, I'm catholic and I think the only reason they don't go after us as hard is because the largest bulk of catholics closest to Hollywood is Mexico and they are too scared to go after a brown people with the same vigor they go after christians who whose biggest, closest, bulk live in the US. When you get down to it, they are still looking down at my faith and trying to blame all on us. As you get older you have to take judgement and criticism as more than blind hate, but we've had to deal with this for long enough that we can call it that.

I've mentioned this already but this production was started years ago. At that point they probably thought they were going to applauded for doing this. We're probably going to start seeing things shift, but we still have to get through the whole other productions that beggan back then.

I am a devout serious Catholic, so I have every right to believe the worst crime of all is painting people of my faith as evil. He said that saying he’s anti Christian is a “bad faith take” yet pulls this crap? He is a hypocrite and has the world views of a 12 year old.

I’m of the opinion the story draft went through a very troubled development and that the actual script and animation began less than a year ago. If actual development really did begin in 2018 they are extremely incompetent.

Not necessarily. Animation projects take a while. Japan does it faster but remember that their studios and animators are famously abused. A year is not likely the time frame, either. Kevin Conroy passed away in 2022. That means he'd have to record his lines before he got sick enough to not be able to. He died of intestinal cancer, which, I can't imagine being an easy thing to go through, so, dialogue would've been finished by then. Let's say 2021. After that comes the animation. Even at 8 episodes, that probably took a lot of time. I also suspect that the show was completed some time ago and we were just waiting for its release window.

If I had to guess, I'd say the project got underway around 5 years ago. Preproduction might've started after DMC5 and the story could've been ironed out within a few weeks to a few months, maybe even a year. Dialogue and voice recording might've been first. In Japan, at least back in the day, they used to animate first and the voice actors matched the animation. The only exception back then was Akira where they did it the 'Disney' way of recording actors and matching their lip movement with animation. This was done by a Korean studio so they might do it the western style. Animation takes a while so 3 years to finish doesn't sound odd to me. Then there's the post production. Music, special effects, corrections, advertisement. I'm guessing here, by the way. I have no way of knowing.
