After playing Bayonetta, I now realize there is zero reason DmC's soft lock and DMC4's hard lock cannot both be used at the same time in the game to get the advantages of both systems.

Styles in DMC4 felt arbitrary. They were just an extra button press to do what you wanted to do.
After playing DmC then going to DMC4, it felt completely unnecessary to have to press an extra button after a launcher just to do some air attacks.
