Reason being is because well, though all three games were thrown on the same disc, that doesn't mean things could have made the games better. In DMC 3, they could have at least thrown in Vergil's side of the story (wihtout going through the same missions as Dante), added the combo's left out in the PS2 version for Vergil and probably alot more. Even though I could be wrong on this, I think it would have been better if they would have just done the HD better or just made it like Halo Combat Evolved Ann. which was amazing because they did a truth graphic overhaul on that game :D

True, though DMC HD Collection is just a port to current gen consoles, it's not a remake. I'm guessing they didn't put a lot of manpower into making it because they were busy doing other things.

Creating a whole new story for Vergil would take a long, long time. I would've liked seeing Vergil's story in DMC 3 SE, but then, he doesn't really have one. He just appears, and didn't have plans before fighting Dante.

I don't know about any combos having been left out, but that sounds interesting.

I was disappointed by how some cutscenes looked; in DMC3 they looked kind of grainy, as though it's not even converted to HD that well.

So yeah, I guess I agree with just about everything you said :P

Well i read up somewhere that there were moves left out for Vergil because the PS2 discs couldnt hold the data, but I just think PIPEWORKS isn't all that great for HD remakes honestly and the graining of some of the cutscenes, i have to agree, kinda made me feel like they didnt care honestly. I always wonder why game companies half-ass their projects, when they could actually take the time, correct the mistakes they made to make a more interesting game.

Damn right!
But this is Capcom so they probably have made it a DLC pack. Vergil expansion DLC or something.

Well I doubt it because for the HD to have such a thing would have made my dayand toning down the difficulty? The hell man. I guess a game is meant at times to be for everyone now since they downed it for DMC 1, Im not sure if they did that for the other two. DMC 3 already had it waterdowned because people complained it was too hard after they WANTED it to be hard, again no one can ever be satisfied.

Welcome to gamers(people in general) of today. I guess you could say it's good they didn't touch it though otherwise they might've effed it up much like Konami did with the Silent Hill HD collection.

While not as nice looking as the MGS collection, the DMC HD collection is fantastic, especially for someone in my circumstance.
I have a 53" television and when it stretches anything sent through composite, it just looks horrendous especially if it's rendered at SD beforehand. Also as a PAL gamer I always had to deal with DMC1 at 50fps which is awful and the back to front controller mapping.

For me the HD collection made the games visually acceptable, made the gameplay less technically inferior and unified the series control for Xbox pads.
I was very happy with it and the fact that pre-rendered cutscenes aren't as nice or they haven't added new content is not what anyone should have expected. Before the game came out I thought it would be awesome if they added on the fly style switching from 4 or something like new moves like what you said, but this would mess up the balancing of dps and ranking system in the game. Getting new taunts was good enough.

Like 8Bit said, at least it didn't end up as bad as SH.

I'm sure you would agree though, that it would be awesome if they went the extra mile like the Zone of the Enders collection and gave the graphics a complete overhaul.

I just wished they did more with DMC2.

Anyone else here notice that out of all three of the games, DMC2 had the best graphics visually out of the rest?

Well by looking at the cover of the game, no kidding my friend lol. That's realistic right there for you!

It bothered me though that the HD collection contained cutscenes that looked pretty awful on a HD TV - were they not able to convert some of them for HD or what? And some of the info screens where not even made the correct size for HD but had huge black borders. As a conversion, it feels only half-complete, and the fact you can watch one cutscene which is fine, and then soon after watch another that's pixelled and grainy as hell is a shame.

I didn't like what they did with some of the lighting effects and colours for the conversion. Slum Avenue - in the original or SE edition it's darker and gloomier, and the neon lights are brighter and more colourful, the whole thing is more atmospheric-looking. The HD version looks 'washed out' in terms of colour. Or the area behind the waterfall near Nevan's cave, there's a room in which there's a glowing effect that looks fine in the original/SE, but in the HD has been enhanced and it looks pretty weird. Also the fact that when you fight all the bosses again in the labyrinth, there used to be a lighting effect like an invert / negative film where the rooms you fight in look ghostly white. In the HD version they're practically normal. Why?

I don't like that the difficulty has been lowered or that enemy orders have been swapped in some of the games in this edition. Again, why? Surely most who bought this were buying it for nostalgia's sake and didn't want it dumbed-down. I just wanted a HD copy of my older games, since Sony have now stopped producing PS2s.

It could have been worse. But still, wtf.

The cutscenes that looked bad looked that way because they were pre-rendered back in the day. As a result they didn't have access to the files to be able to upscale them. .

Not in mine, they still have the same negative effect.

Where did you get that idea? they only added a couple of taunts in DMC3

It could have been worse. But still, wtf.

They should have gave them DMC4 graphics. and made several gameplay enhancements like making DMC3 styles switchable on the fly and allowing 3 weapons and three firearms at once instead of just two. in other words, they should made it with the effort the games deserved, even then i cant imagine it would take more than a little over a year.

If they would've did all that the disc wouldn't have been a HD DMC Collection but a whole new thingy. The idea was just to have the 3 games playable in HD on a New Gen console. It met its goal.

That would take far longer than a year.
Could you imagine trying to recreate the first Devil May Cry's environment? That place is huge.
Not to mention the fact they'd have to start Devil May Cry 2 from scratch, what with it's simplified combat.
Devil May Cry 3 would take less time most likely, but is it worth it in the end?

As for the HD Collection itself... they should have taken more time on it.
They should have known more people would play Devil May Cry 3 a considerable amount more than the other two, no matter how good they were, yet Devil May Cry 3 was the worst of the ports. It's a damn shame.
All the textures and backgrounds look terrible. How did Devil May Cry 2 look so great in HD, and not Devil May Cry 3?

yea youre right actually. to be honest i only had DMC3 in mind when i wrote that comment since i really dont care for the other two games. i mean i respect the original because... itsthe original lol but ihave no interest in playing it. so yea they should basically apply what i said to DMC3 and i maybe then il consider letting my DmC disc cool off ;)

I could see a MT Framework revision of Devil May Cry 3, but I doubt Capcom would waste resources on such a project.
Capcom isn't that kind of company.

Because they are money greaving idiots? Probably.
the very least theycould have done was give Dante the ability to switch styles on the fly and let him hold 6 weapons at once instead of 4 and improve the god awful formating of the menus, but no that would require them to actually be game developers.
