Download TexMod

Extract TexMod to your desktop and open it, you'll see the screen below:

Now you want to click the folder icon in the top left and choose your DmC.exe binary file. It should be located here: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\DmC Devil May Cry\Binaries\Win32\DMC-DevilMayCry.exe

Click open, now you should see 3 "tabs" that say:
  • Package Mode
  • Logging Mode
  • Package Build

You want to choose Logging Mode first, change the Output Format to TGA (it's easier to work with) and check Translucent because some of the textures will take over the entire screen and you won't be able to see what you're doing and change Output Folder to somewhere you know, preferably a new folder on the desktop.

Once you've done that click on Run and the game will start up, you'll notice in the top left red text that tells you the controls and information. Load your save if you have one and head to Training Mode. This is the best place to grab the textures since the enemy doesn't attack. On your keyboard make sure Num Lock is on and then press - and + to navigate through the textures. You'll notice them show up in the top left as you scroll through them.

When you find a texture you want to edit press Numpad Enter to save it. After you've done press ALT+F4 to quite and then open up the textures in Photoshop or any other image editing program. Once done be sure to save and replace the original files.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT edit or delete the log file created by TexMod, this contains the offsets and variables to replace. If you delete or edit this without knowing what you're doing the textures wont work.

Now back on TexMod choose Package Build, the Definition File is the log file created it should already be selected but if not then click the folder and open it up. Next type in your name and a description, when done press Build. You'll be prompted to save the package somewhere so choose the Desktop.

You can use textures by doing this:
Now click on the Package Mode tab and click the folder in the middle, the new file you made should appear on a drop down list so choose it but if not then browse for it. Once you've selected the file be sure to LEFT CLICK on the file to the left, if you do not select a package to run you won't get any edited textures appear. Once you've selected it just press Run and go back to training mode or Story Mode and you'll see the newly edited Textures.

For now this is the easiest way to edit Textures until someone finds a way to open up .TFC files.

Can we request that this be stickied? For now all we can do is use Texmod really so it's imperative people can find this thread easily.

Sounds like a plan to me.

Stickified.

Big question: I used texMod to try a texture submitted here. It loaded just fine, except one thing happened: it deleted all my saves...

Do you know why this might have happened?

I can promise you TexMod doesn't mess with anything other than the textures it replaces, something else removed your saves I'm afraid.

Could be. It's just the assumption I made since my files were just fine until I tried TexMod, but I'll try to figure it out.
