Devil May Cry hasn't been this strong since DMC3. We're finally at a point where the series isn't in fear of getting stale, too anime, or being rebooted. We're back where we should be; innovative and covering new ground. There's a stronger focus on story and narrative this time around that fleshes out the characters. A few of the questions about Dante and Vergil's past has finally come to fruition.

Whatever comes next for a DMC6, I hope it stars Nero. I hated him in DMC4, but DMC5 REALLY made me appreciate his growth, and I want to see more of it going forward. As for Dante and Vergil; while they were nice, I feel it's time to move on from the direct Sons of Sparda and their baggage because of their dad. Let's have new legends rise. I dunno, maybe a sort of God Of War kind of thing where its a new mythology and new demons to fight.

Actually dmc 4 was the strongest point the series ever had since it was the best selling game in the series and they even make an anime during that period it was a good time for dmc, however nobody actually know why Capcom decided to reboot it instead of continuing the series after dmc 4

Actually dmc 3 was the lowest in sale even lower than dmc

Dmc was never in any kind of fear of remake or cancelation however they decided to reboot it and I don't know why

Devil may cry is based on its own mitologhy so it could be a little difficult to make a new mitologhy without changing everything, God of War simply took already established mitologhy and put it on the game but still mainteined is old protagonist...

They could add more things instead of only demon, like gods and angel like Bayonetta... Or something from other universe

DMC4 is a good game but marred by production issues. Rumor has it that the game's development time and budget lost a year so some of the drawbacks the game had were the dev team trying to make ends meet.

I'd say the bigger controversy was more its story and Nero himself. He had a mixed reception that didn't really get better till after DmC (irony).

Unfortunately I'm still not interested in Nero and rather they go back to the drawing board and create someone new.

Or Vergil as he is the only character i felt had further stories left to tell.

Or Vergil as he is the only consistently wellwritten character for the series and the only character i felt had further stories left to tell.
I honestly disagree that he's wellwritten at all tbh.

I think he meant quality wise rather than sales. DMC3 was when the series had its peak, DMC4 is a very divisive game, many like it, many hate it.
Dmc 4 maybe divided the Fandom but not the critic since it was acclaimed by them

Also I think that dmc 4 surpassed dmc 3 in term of gameplay but not story

The backtracking is the only bad things about that game, but it did not bother me that much

V patron, it was confirmed by dmc 4 director hideaki itsuno that dmc 4 budget was limited, they give him the exact same budget of dmc 3 but it was limited for a ps3 game, so he couldn't make the game he wanted and the only way was to complete the game was make the second part of it whit backtracking

And DMC3 was acclaimed by both.
Yeah I know

But probably Capcom also take in account the sales and the review of a game, the dmc series was only in trouble during dmc 2 because the review were low and it was seen as one of the worst game ever, after this dmc was always in good view, dmc 3 was well received, but I think its peak arrived whit dmc 4 in term of sales and review...

Dmc 3 was a masterpiece game but I m talking about financial and money here, dmc 4 was dmc peak...

Example: Resident evil 5 was resident evil peak for the series, its not the best in the series (I think code veronica is the best) but its the most selled game in the series and that period was gold for resident evil, during that period they make a cgi movie called degeneration, than afterlife came out than they make a manga and revelation and operation raccon city, they even make a gold edition of resident evil 5, and we must thank the success of resident evil 5 for having all of this... It's the same thing with dmc, dmc 4 wasn't the best in the series but its sales were the triple of that of dmc 3... Dmc 4 has made the series more famous and known among people...

That s what I m trying to saying whit peak, now thanks to dmc 5, dmc had returned to that glory, I hope they will not Waste this moment

I’m not going to translate. There’s too much. Sufficient to say that there is a Capcom card battle game and it has DMC characters, even Kyrie.

Has anyone thought of new enemies for Nero to face?

Look at these for example from Raiden:

I think Nero could do the case of the week story structure better than Dante did. Rather than one case getting out of hand like the past few, maybe they could focus on a few interconnected cases?

As for a rival, I'd go with someone like Mercury Black from RWBY- someone who can poke fun and toy/misdirect him.

I can see something like that. I checked him out and he's based off of Mercury/Hermes in Roman/Greek myth. How would that fit?

And any bosses in mind that are not only demon, but human also? I can picture custom weaponry like Nero's. They can be Devil Hunters but evil ones.

Honestly, I was thinking more about personality than powerset. Human antagonists are trickier because of the power gap between demons and humans. Granted there is magic but its been poorly used. Machines might be interesting as the government could invest in robotics as a demon deterrent.

So cyborgs and androids are fair game for DMC. ;)

I think it's only a matter of time before we get a DMC6. I said this to a buddy of mine, who introduced me to the series, I really feel like Nero deserves at-least one more game. I still think they should have Mundus threaten to return while Dante and Vergil are trapped, and Nero's the only one around who could stop him.

I also wouldn't mind, and this isn't a likely one, given Ninja Theory being under Microsoft, but I wouldn't mind if they decided to do DmC2. Hear me out, yes I was one of the many going "WTF" during the 3 years between DmC's announcement and release.

But here's why. Devil May Cry 4, was not a satisfying conclusion to the series. Devil May Cry 5, imo, is. Sure it's kinda open-ended. But hey, I'll take Morrison taking over Devil May Cry with Lady and Trish working for him, Nero having learned the truth of his lineage and stepped up to became the new legendary devil hunter in his uncle's place, and Dante Vergil, being trapped in hell, but reunited and on good terms. Over Nero asking Dante if they'll meet again, and still not having any freakin idea where Nero came from any day.

So in short, if they wanted to try to reboot again, or continue with DmC. I'll admit, I'm a lot more open to it now then I was back when DmC was coming out.

EDIT:

Actually dmc 3 was the lowest in sale even lower than dmc
Well actually DMC2 is the worst selling. It's only sold about 1.7 million, since it was released

DMC1 has sold 2.16 million, DMC3's sold 2.3 million (Combining the standard and special editions), DmC's sold 2.4 million, DMC5 (currently) has sold 2.5 million, and DMC4 is the best selling at 3 million.

Please note, these numbers don't include the HD collections (Either current previous gens, though the previous gen's sold an even million) or DmC's definitive edition or DMC4's special edition (Since Capcom's Platinum Titles list, only says the above numbers for PS3/X-Box 360, not PS4/X-Box One)

Dmc 4 maybe divided the Fandom but not the critic since it was acclaimed by them
This is coming from someone who likes DMC4, btw, while it is true DMC4 wasn't exactly hated by the critics. Have you seen any of the games' scores? Based on what I've seen, DMC4 has the second lowest scores of any DMC game (Lowest being DMC2, obviously. Also in case anyone's wondering, I'm counting DmC in this statement. So critics consider DMC4 the second worst out of 6).
DMC 2's average scores were like 60s, maybe 70s. Whereas DMC4 got mostly 80s. But DMC1, DMC3, DMC5, and even DmC, got mostly 90s.

I saw DmC as NT's take on DMC so i wouldn't want DmC2 without them. I don't mind another reboot by a different company instead. Its more freeing and less cumbersome.

V became my favorite and the MVP of 5 for me storywise so i don't mind a spinoff with a new character. If he or she failed you don't have to use them again.

A spinoff feels like a safer bet than a reboot to me.

Personally, I would like a spinoff. We already know that Sparda family are not the only part-demons or demons defending humanity, so there is plenty of space to introduce new characters and stories.

Will we ever see spinoffs of DMC like Resident Evil does?

RE Revelations
- Darkside Chronicles
- Code Veronica
- Umbrella Chronicles

How would you picture the spinoffs?
