  • Yo bro, You should check the Witchfinder comics. It's a Hellboy prequel, centering on Sir Edward Grey. He's a magical investigator in the 19th century. It felt like something you'd be interested in.
Just watched the first episode of "Demon Slayer" a brand new anime from this season, and all I could think of was "get Dante in here!" XD

Anime titles are getting more generic now. It used to be Armored Gundam 02: Blood X Warrior Blockade Solid Mechaman.

Now it's Goblin Slayer, Demon Slayer, Last Period.

To be fair, it's full title is "Kimetsu no Yaiba: Demon Slayer" but I was being lazy. :p

So, Blade of Demon Destruction: Demon Slayer.

    Yeah, I retract my statement.
That trailer for Joaquin Phoenix's Joker movie is giving me so many mixed feelings. It looks more like a French Art Movie. :/

I kinda like it but I'm not that interested in it yet.

It looks great but I honestly don't care about the Joker. He just feels very overrated to me.

I too do not really care for the Joker, but I really think it's going to be Joaquin Phoenix's interpretation of the character that's gonna really sell the movie to me.
There's something else I noticed: While V was curious to see what holding the Sparda sword was like (and drove it into the ground in a fit of anger next to Dante's head) he ultimately ignored the arguably more powerful devil sword dante because the Yamato had somehow gained strength due to it being passed from Nero to Dante then back to Vergil.

(I could be wrong this though.)

Another theory I have in mind is: stealing the entire o-katana back while still inside Nero's DB arm probably gave it some additional power. The final power boost happened when V fused back with Urizen, making it on par with DSD.

For some reason, Vergil needed to discard his cane because it was an incompatible "human/sorcerer" class weapon that he couldn't even touch while being in possession of the Yamato -- and also because he was a demon again. If Eva was truly a witch, then it might've even been her weapon (or at least one that was used in the war against the demons). Keep in mind that all of this is ultimately conjecture.

The fact that V says "Do not underestimate this demon for he was the one who took your arm and gained a great deal of power from it" confirms in my mind that consuming the DB made Urizen and/or Yamato stronger. That plus consuming the Qliphoth may have further enhanced Yamato like how Dante absorbing Sparda sword reforged the Rebellion into DSD. Who knows...

Y'know, I've been mulling this over for a while, and if by some miracle they did decide to make another game in the FFXV verse, I'd like to see a Crisis Core-esque prequel centring around Regis and his own party during the Great War thirty years prior to the start of XV. There's a lot that was teased to have gone on and it would be cool to expand of Regis, Cor and Cid's characters. <3

I think you could do games based on Noctis's ancestors but that might be overdoing it. I agree about Regis and I'm sure his VA would too.

Outside of the Founder King and Regis, very little of Noctis' ancestors seem to have done anything that would be worth exploring in a game. And we already saw huge amounts of the Founder King Somnus in Episode Ardyn so that just leaves Regis to explore. Obviously this is a pipe dream and I'm fine with closing the book on FFXV (literally) once the novel comes out.
Yo bro I wouldn't say V's references to William Blake are inspired by the reboot because the reboot didn't have many classical history allusions. Initially, I saw it that way but Stylish Nero gave me a wall of text proving otherwise.

Granted it would be funny if DmC2 had an allusion to journey to the west ;)

"Vergil's Downfall" is one giant allusion to "The Hollow Men" by T.S Eliot, right down to Hollow Vergil (not a Bleach reference as many mistakenly thought).

I figured it wasn't a bleach reference because Donn1e (the lead dev behind it) wasn't aware of Bleach at all. But I think Stylish Nero meant the main campaign. There are other references to DmC in DMCV like some aesthetic choices, certain story events- the presence of where it all started etc so it becomes like a chicken and egg thing. DMC could have done those things before but DmC beat them to the punch.

That's fair, but my original point wasn't that DMC5 was "copying" DmC but rather that by the story choices DMC5 did have, it makes a DmC2 as a result feel redundant as presumably Dante would be protecting the human world against the new Demon King Vergil just like Dante does against Urizen in 5. Unless they made changes, a DmC2 would ironically feel like it was copying DMC5.

Mmm. It's funny, he was never meant to be the villain but the actor who plays the Emperor died partway through development so they ended up changing the script to make Ardyn the villain and he ended up being one of the best ever FF characters IMO.

He reminded me of Claudius from Hamlet for some reason.

@Lain i read that originally versus was a trilogy so maybe ardyn would have been the big bad anyway. Just the other two games had other characters fill those role so you get a sense of momentum.
