the character's name is Ned Leeds who was originally a reporter that peter met at the daily bugle. The controversy is because Movie Ned is basically Ganke with a different name and doesn't have a whole lot in common with the actual Ned Leeds. Best case scenario is Movie Ned has journalistic ambitions and that's how peter gets involved with the daily bugle.

It coild either way since Donald Glover's character could Miles's uncle who was the prowler. And Spider-Woman doesn't have a concrete origin or connection to Pete so she is pretty flexible (pun not intended).
Spider-Gwen works better in her own universe than in the main one to me.
