DmC2: Angel War

TerrorA

Don't mess with a Mage, bitch.
Emmanuel sat on the throne of the Angel Lord. His golden clothes glowed slightly, and his sword Angelus sat beside him. He seemed content, maybe even happy. His eyes were closed, his head down. Suddenly, his eyes snapped open and he jumped up.

"The demons hold on the human world is broken! Now's our chance! Uriel!"

An Angel with six wings landed in front of the Angel Lord and bowed. "Yes master?"

"Send Drago, have him hunt down every hellion and half-wing in the human world. But first, have him find and destroy the Sons of Eva. They can not be allowed to ruin our plans for new Eden!"

The 6-winged angel bowed and vanished in a flash of blue light

The scene swiftly changes to a scruffy ruggid looking man in his early twenties. His clothes look slightly ripped and his appearance seems like he's been battered. He's staggering around on his feet as if he's drunk, stumbling, looking slightly frail.

"Urgh...fighting is like drinking too much alcohol...It gives you a bad headache!" he says to himself, some of his wounds now healing on his scarred body.

'How the **** did I get into all this mess' he thinks to himself, desparately searching for some sort of answer to that question.

A ton of dead bodies are lying all over the place around him with their bones snapped and visibly protruding from their dead carcuses. All of their blood drenching the floor and soaking it completely. The scene looked like something straight out of your typical gory horror movie, except a million times more vivid and worse.

As the man walked out, the world shifted and swirled. Blues and greens were brighter, while reds seemed to dim.

"Limbo? But how?" He wondered. "No, it's different from Limbo. What the hell is this place?" He wondered.

Suddenly, a flash of light appeared. From the light, shapes formed. Wheels of flames swirled, with human shaped centers.

In the distance, a blue and gold dragon flew from building to building.

"Alright then. New place, same rules." The man spun a twin pair of handguns, one black and one gun-grey.

"Dante, Spawn of Eva, come meet your fate!" The dragon roared.

"My mother?" A smirk decorated the young man's face. "I get it now."

The elegantly composed dragon stood profoundly tall in height, followed up with a healthy magnitude of muscular structure. It landed on the closest building and its eyes scarpered to meet Dante’s, one eye gold and the other a piercing blue. The eyes of this creature sparkled in the glowing sun like crystals or diamonds, its mouth drooling with the soul intent of devouring meat to feed its growing hunger.

Dante as per usual was standing still, glancing back over at the mighty creature as he continued to spin Ebony and Ivory around in his hands. The two continued sharing this sustained glare for a further moment until the building simply split itself in half creating a further uplifted build up to the beginning of their scrap.

The dragon stretched the front of its body forwards towards the sky and kicked down hard off from the ground with its hind legs, spreading its wings and expanding to its overall size to a magnificent degree. These wings were almost the same length as the dragon’s body and coloured a majestic gold with a blue tinted outline.

The beast soared towards Dante and its jaws burst open revealing a deadly set of incredibly sharp teeth. A heavy amount of wind was introduced to the battle conditions when the dragon was flapping its wings towards Dante who had to quickly roll out of the way of the dragon’s mouth and managed to grab onto the beast’s wing.

He climbed up onto the dragons back as the creature flew skyward and roared with aggressive rage. The enchanting animal went ballistic with fury and shook and flapped its wings around amongst the clouds trying to shake Dante off from its back.

Dante loosened his grip and slid down the back eventually latching his grip onto the dragon’s tail instead. As before and rather inevitably enough the furiously provoked animal shook its tail in an angered attempt to get Dante off its body. This indeed happened and Dante was flung upwards to fly through the air and as he did so he pulled the triggers of both Ebony and Ivory and blasted the dragon dead in the face with hot lead.

As if not angered already the dragon reacted with an ear aching roar as flames spat out from its mouth in short controlled bursts aimed at Dante’s direction. Dante who had previously been flung through the air was now being sucked down to the ground by the inescapable force of gravity and at the same time flipped out of the way of the fiery flames to avoid injury. As he came hurtling towards an unwelcoming solid stone floor with the dragon hot on his tail he whipped out his demon chain and flicked it up catching around the dragon’s neck he flung himself around and over the side of the creature and onto its back once more.

Now Dante had mounted the dragon again, however this time he had more control over the situation. The chain was tightly wrapped around the demon’s neck and Dante was very much in charge as the dragon shot passed building after building. Pulling the chain hard he pulled the dragon’s neck and entire body to one side causing it to lose control and crash straight through one of the skyscrapers. Dante also suffered the hard crash as he shot off from the creatures back and met the cold hard floor.

He had landed inside the building and raised Ebony and Ivory up again pointing towards the demon that was now slumped on the floor with bricks covering it and glass sticking into its body. Dante looked down at his own body and noticed various marks, scratches and bruises. They seemed to be healing themselves as he stood examining them for a few seconds.

“Now what do you want out of me?” Dante said as he came towards the dragon that was still lying there.

The creature shook bits of debris off from its head and turned its neck to the side to inspect Dante. “You have no idea, you filthy Nephilim” the demon nastily smirked as it coughed up a small flame.

Dante drew out Rebellion from its sheath and poked it at the dragon’s head. “Why don’t you explain yourself then?” he stated.

The dragon bit down onto the sword and yanked it out of Dante’s grasp with its mouth and then chucked it to the other side. At the same time the creature struck out with its wings and knocked Dante backwards with one of them. Dante once again reached for his reliable handguns and began firing at the demon but his shots mostly missed as the dragon flew out of the building and back up into the sky.

Dante made his way over to the side of the battered building and stared up at the dragon in the sky that was suspended in one spot.

“We will meet again, spawn of Eva” the dragon snarled as it turned to fly away.

Dante looked up and watched the dragon fly back passed the buildings and off into the distance.

“That we will…” he said to himself, squeezing his guns hard in his hands. “That we will…”

Dante walked away, ignoring the various stares his strange appearrance drew. Kind of miss that hood. The Nephillim thought as he made his way to his base of operations, the former headquarters of The Order.

"Kat! You here?" Dante yelled as he entered. "You won't believe this ****."

Kat was by the phone at the front, deep in a book. At Dante's approach, she jumped and slammed the book shut.

"What's that? Some kind of Wiccan porn book?" The Nephilim swiftly snatched the tome from his protesting companion. His playful smile instantly disappeared as he read the title.

"Der Vermer Mysteriis? Damn it,Kat!" Dante dropped the book like it was a live coal.

"Dante, you don't understand-" The girl began.

"It's called dark magic for a reason! You keep knocking on the Devil's door, someone's going to answer!"

As if on cue, the door burst open. A young woman, maybe 19-20 stepped through. Raven-colored hair, cut short but in an attractive way, glistened in the rather poor lighting. She wore a short black leather biker jacket over a strangly snug blue tactical shirt. A pair of blue jeans were tucked into her black combat boots. Slung across her shoulder was a AK-74 with a Bayonet attached to it. A scar sat proudly on her nose, legacy of a fight she undoubtedly won. But her most startling feature was her eyes, one a cool cobalt blue and the other a raging ruby red.

"Note to self, get a better security system." Dante muttered. " Can I help you?"

"So, you're the `Red Knight' every hunter keeps talking about."

Six months ago, Dante would have pulled a gun on the woman. Now, he just gave her a suspicious glare. "Who are you?"

The woman smiled. "Call me Lady."

"Lady? So what I'm just supposed to call you what you are?" Dante laughed in a smug manner.

The woman rolled her eyes ever so slightly, "funny".

"I thought so too. So what the **** are you doing in my shop? Breaking through my door like that?".

"I heard you're the man that people can trust", Lady remarked.

Dante looked widely confused.

"What people have you been talking to?" Dante began to wonder.

"People like me. People that need your help".

"Hey, don't mind me" Kat interrupted, as if she was not to be ignored.

"The name's Kat. I'm Dante's...'she stumbles for words'...helper".

"She's my partner" Dante butts in. Kat almost blushes. "Me and Kat are a team. But...we're always looking for new recruits, so come on in. Close the door behind you, we don't want any more unexpected guests...if you catch my drift?" Dante nods towards the door.

"I understand" she replies, closing the door behind her.

"Lady" leaned back in her chair and began.

"Three days ago, my team and I were investigating a possible demon nest on 132nd, a church. We entered, but the zone seemed off somehow, we didn't feel any malice coming from it. Then we found the demons." The woman suppressed a shudder and continued. "Something had torn them apart, bit by bit. Some were still alive, still screaming."

Dante smiled. "Sounds badass. Why should I give a ****?"

Kat gave Dante a pleading look. "Dante, be nice."

Lady shot him a glare. "Anyway, we followed the bodies. And there, we saw it. Four faces, a lion, a bull, an eagle, and a man. Four wings, glowing gold and blue. And eyes, eyes everywhere.. Eyes in the spaces between eyes! It tore a Onyx in two. And then it spoke. 'You've seen something you shouldn't have. Sorry, but you have to die now.' Then, it came for us. We opened fire on it. It didn't even flinch. Our demon killing weapons were completely ineffective. And then, as it cut Mark to bits with a flaming sword, I realized why. It's because it wasn't a demon."

Kat and Dante stared, enraptured by the tale. "What was it?" Kat asked. But Dante knew. It was the same kind of Creature as the dragon that attacked him earlier. As one, he and Lady said it. The enemy of demons.

"An Angel."
