Dante

Dante’s outing in Devil May Cry 3 sees him at his youngest in the series, even younger than his adventure in the original Devil May Cry as this title serves as a prequel. He also displays a much more cockier attitude, but he also presents a confident and stylish demeanour at the same time. He wields a massive sword that he likes to call the “Rebellion”, which serves as a very good all round weapon throughout the beginning of his quest, he also likes to keep his trusty ebony and ivory dual pistols handy for the long range scuffles.

Dante is also adept in the martial arts, and isn't frightened about getting up close and personal in a fight. He will often be seen in his trademark full-length red leather jacket. He is the main character in Devil May Cry 3 and it’s his job to stop his twin brother, Vergil, from fulfilling his evil plot. And like his brother, he also shares the same half-human, half-demon blood that courses through his veins. The son of Eva and the Legendary Dark Knight, Sparda, he is able to harness the best of both species and use this to his advantage.

Lady

Mary, or “Lady” as she likes to be called, plays the lead female role in Devil May Cry 3. She is also one of the only pure human characters featured in this game, along with her father, Arkham. When she is first introduced her motives for wanting to enter the tower are clouded in mystery, but she more then proves that she is capable of looking after herself amongst the legions of demons roaming around the areas.

Lady shows incredible athletic abilities and demonstrates her skills with her multiple firearms; pistols, machine guns, grenades and of course, her massive Rocket Launcher which she likes to call “Kalinna Ann”.

She uses a jet powered motor bike to help her navigate the tower, which is capable of scaling vertical walls easily. She also shares her fathers red and blue eyes trait.

Vergil

Vergil is the main villain in Devil May Cry 3 who yearns for absolute power and is driven by greed to completing his mission. Vergil is Dante’s twin brother, and shares an almost equal fighting calibre with his brother, but unlike Dante, Vergil displays a more calm and collected attitude and rarely results to taunting an opponent.

It’s only until the later stages of the game that we begin to realise just how honourable he can be. Vergil also prefers to use projectiles as opposed to Dante’s method of using firearms as he believes they are dishonourable lower class weapons only fit for humans.

Vergil’s primary weapon is the Yamoto sword, which he wields with deadly accuracy, it is said that his speed of his techniques are simply too fast for the human eye to keep up with. He is also capable of transforming into his devil trigger state before Dante.

Arkham

Arkham’s role in Devil May Cry shows him as an adviser to Vergil, but it soon becomes clear that he is secretly manipulating Vergil’s ambition for power so he can harness the sleeping power of Sparda for himself. He comes across as a cold and calculated individual, showing little or no compassion for anyone he comes across.

Arkham is seen through most of the game carrying a a rather large book, more than likely containing the ritual instructions that are the key to unlocking his dark plan. His face also appears heavily scarred or burnt for some unknown reasons.

Soon into the story he realises that his daughter Lady has infiltrated the tower and knows she’s is determined to kill him. Much like his daughter, Lady, he shares the same red and blue eye colour.

Jester

Jester plays a key role in the story of Devil May Cry 3. His motives for helping Dante early in the game remain quite misty until the later stages of the game when everything is revealed.

At first he appears to guide Dante through some difficult obstacles and help ensure that he is able to complete his goal, but it soon becomes apparent that his reasons for helping our hero aren’t as honest as Dante might think.

Jester displays a comical personality, making light out of every situation, but also displays a sinister attitude at times. Something worth noting is that he seems to have the same multi-coloured eye trait as both Lady and Arkham…

Sparda

Sparda, is the Legendary Dark Knight who chose to fight for good. The husband to a human named Eva and father of both Dante and Vergil, his only known offspring. His legendary tales are still spoken of to this day and his power is rumoured to be unrivalled.

Sparda doesn't actually make an actual appearance at all throughout the main story mode of Devil May Cry 3 (minus the bonus art which can be unlocked), he is only referenced, but he plays a central role throughout the story. Although you are able to unlock him and play as him, his moves list and voice work remains exactly the same as Dante’s default set.
