i agree z, it lacks the fun too, and spike is how dante should've been more in the anime

I wouldnt say that since Dante's more of a do-gooder than Spike.

its hard to describe what kind of hero dante is.... he's not a goody two shoes but he's not a real anti-hero.

Space Adventure Cobra was the one to inspire DMC, as well as Devilman, although it wouldn't surprise me Cowboy Bebop was in the mix as well. Even writers and developers are just people that get inspired by other works.

personally i'm not so keen about inuyasha and devilman inspired dmc, even if it's officialy stated.. i'd believe verymuch if they say bebop inspired dmc, especially in 3, and i think bebop is how dmc anime supposed to be done.. especially with dante's character, and that vergil is supposed to present there..

I don't know how you got Inuyasha, only fans mention that one when they want to critique DMC3, and that's a sad case of mistaking similarities stemming from Japanese culture for a rip-off. Kamiya admitted he was inspired by Cobra, although influence carried on beyond DMC1, and Itsuno mentioned Devilman when discussing why DMC world is just humans and demons. Beyond that nothing was said officially.
