I know you didn't ask me specifically, but my opinion of the game is pretty much the same as Jim Sterling's.

Also, I deleted the same yt vid I posted below so that it's not in two different places.

That video, and the one he made yesterday, brought me back into his fandom simply for the sheer boldness of his stance against "copyright holders".

I could see why a lot of people have hang ups on how the game is, but I personally thought it was a cool idea...just not the best one.

As someone who LOVED the control schemes in Skyward Sword, Red Steel 2, and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword, I'll admit that this wasn't the best way to go about that game.

I like the steering mechanic, but hate the fact that I need to look at the screen just to freakin' aim properly.

Also, I'm too hung up on the old SF64 control scheme to move on...

@DragonMaster2010 As someone who played Star Fox 2, 64, and Assault religiously for a decade, I can assure you that the controls in Zero aren't bad...they're just different. The problem every reviewer seems to be doing is spending five seconds with a game that clearly requires more time and dedication, something that's apparently unreasonable for people PAID TO REVIEW VIDEO GAMES.

The controls are a bit hard to grasp, AT FIRST. But by my second day with the game, I was already a master at it. You don't have to keep looking between screens if you don't want to...you can actually press the + button to switch the TV between cockpit and ship views, which was a staple feature of the ORIGINAL three Star Fox games.
