So, of course you're going to see anime/manga inspirations. -shakes head;

It's even weirder because some of them complain that DMC was never so anime-like. They complain about DMC3 and DMC4, while DMC has always been so anime-like. DMC1 was pretty typical anime too. Did it change with DMC2, and 3 and 4 after that? Yeah. But it never had great dialogue, and it was never western. Sometimes I wonder if they even played all the DMC games.
