Ah, I've never used that. I'm a 2003/2000 guy. :p

Well, I've got the first area finished at least. You start in a jail cell.

If there's one thing I can advise to you, Is be very patient and don't be afraid to make changes. Use the internet as your guide and make sure you feel right with the game before releasing it.

Yeah, I know. I'm not even sure if I'm gonna release it commercially. It might be just something I share with my friends.

I can playtest if you want to and give feedback.
Although I'm also a 2003/2000 type of guy.

I absorbed about 2 months just doing a minor island with a village, two castles and a cave. It's hard when you are trying to design even the enemies. D=

Yeah, that's why I'm glad VX Ace comes with some preset stuff. Admittedly, the jail you start in, and the castle and village, are based on the pre-made maps... Though I'm trying my damnedest to make the story, enemies, and characters unique to make up for that.

Don't forget easter eggs! :p

Also, what I used to do is give my NPC's preset personality traits. ya know, angry, emo, funny, stupid, that sort of thing.
And don't forget One liners!

I tried to make my NPC's cewl. But it got instantly negated when it was hard to make an NPC unique and fun to talk to like in Dragon Age or such. They became NPC's in the line of FFI.
I am so ashamed for making NPCs that's saying the same stuff all the time. QQ

You start out with something simple or pre-made, then it develops into your own creativity. It's okay. ^^
