The manga was out BEFORE the anime so yea, the story continued. Most animes are created from the original story of the manga and thus the manga is always further ahead. So when Inuyasha the anime ended the manga continued until the story ended.
But you miss my point, the author did not "continue" anything since the manga storyline was already way ahead of the animes. Whenever a anime ends its usually either because it was to close to the manga storyline (which is the source material) or they have ran out of money. The same thing happened with D Gray Man.
yea...because it was already past the point where the anime ended. Inuyasha final act was made and based off of where the anime ended and what was detailed in the original manga story that went on. Like I said on the topic, it lasted for another 300 chapters after that point and thus 26 episodes was not enough to cover everything.
