I did explain why in the 6 reasons thread - thanks to certain people saying really nasty things and then quickly editing to make sure they don't get in trouble, the privilege has had to be removed.

If it could be done on an individual basis, it would be, but sadly not. If people can behave, it may return, but it used to be only for Gold members on the old software anyway, so it's been a relatively new benefit for everyone.

Don't worry - just 3 more days on UK time and it'll return. I know everyone has gone nuts over this but a few days to think before hitting reply isn't going to hurt anyone. If anything, it'll be an incentive to not let it get this far again.

It'll be back, that I can promise you. The amount of complaining hopefully indicates that people will start using it properly once it returns. It's not just editing flame posts, it's all the double posting going on even when the button was available. If it helps, I've disabled my own edit button to show I'm part of this "punishment" too
