Searching for some entertaining bits, I found this:
"A man, Prince Yamato, disguised himself as a woman and was able to persuade two men to let their guard down. Once they were comfortable, Yamato murdered both men with a sword. (We won't go into detail here...) While the definition of a ninja or samurai does not include the female disguise they both recognize the actions of Prince Yamato to be the start of their warrior ways."
Yamato was apparently a real person and killed at least two people in a not so honorable way.
Samurai ( as much as ninja) were feared and hated by commoners since everything they could do is to kill, rape and steal everything they want. So much for honor code bushido.

My quote about Bushido just appears here because everyone likes to mention it, but that code is very recent, appeared only when Japan started to have more connections with the exterior world and only very few warriors practice that. A samurai ( as much) only respected his leader and maybe(just maybe) what he considered his equal, everyone else was just dead meat ( just like Mafia's code of honor). Anime sure embellished them a lot.

The good thing is, people like you know better than to take anime's interpretation of the culture or events seriously, and research to see how much of it actually matches up. ^^ Sadly, too few people think to do that; they assume, "Well, anime comes from Japan, so it must be an accurate depiction".
People are special like that. >.>
(That said, of course I love the way Samurai are interpreted in at least (some) anime and videogames, because I prefer fantasy over reality, anyway. I'm just not so ignorant as to pretend it isn't there.)

Tom Riddle was desperate to have immortality because he believed that with the proper use of magic any witch or wizard could live forever. In a way they effectively do, such as in pictures and paintings, or as ghosts (Nearly Headless Nick).
All things considered, Voldemort killed himself; through desperation and a desire to always exist in a more physical manner, he sealed his own fate.
As the theory suggests, by splitting his soul so many times, he in turn actually weakened his physical form - to the point where he couldn't make use of his actual body anymore. Wormtail had to find things relating to Voldemort in order to create a weaker substitute body for the dark lord to inhabit.
Everything directly points to Voldemort being soulfully responsible for his own demise, through carelessness and foolishness born out of his desire to be everlasting.
It's more than likely why Voldemort finds it difficult to see into Harry's mind. However, we know Harry can infiltrate the dark lord's mind and see what he is seeing or has seen. Because he doesn't have much of his soul anymore from splitting it so much.

Stilts just stole my bookmark (because it's plastic and plastic = chewy for cats) and I'm beginning to think I'm not going to get it back. He's cuddling it. He acts like I'm ripping his child from him every time I try to take it and says please until he gets it back. :| I...guess...I'll just have to finish this book, then.

It was precious, if slightly concerning (cuz all my other bookmarks are occupied at present). =3 I wish I could have gotten a pic but black cat against black blanket...yeah, you can imagine. :laugh: LOL I'd believe they were trying to take over the world. Would probably do pretty well if they tried, as well.
