Reading through this thread, I swear to god, if Capcom announces DMC5 with an epic story trailer, followed by 10 minutes of awesome gameplay presentation and a solid release date, you guys will still find something to worry and get depressed about. Geez.

Well, reading through the thread, and others like it, everyone is so eager for story and for it to be the best one in the franchise. Honestly, though, that's kinda ironic since no one watches the cutscenes after at most 3 playthroughs, yet it's given so much more importance than the gameplay or other elements of the game that would give it lasting appeal.

well every time i end up actually watching some cutscenes again i'm always smile cus of how awesome they are

"Everyone" is bite exaggeration tbh. I know that many people here will be satisfied for awesome gameplay and basic story. I think that Devil May Cry doesn't require theatre stage script. Would we watch Indiana Jones if it gonna be turned into heartbreaking, realistic drama? No. Because it full fills its role without overblown story to its fullest.

To me, this feels like a serious case of the left hand not knowing what the right hand's doing.

I'll withhold judgement until a definite answer is given by the executives. Even then, they could change their mind down the line.

Yes, even more if their mother had black hair too, as it is usual with japanese style couple where on of them has white hair( like Toshiro/Hinamori from Bleach, per example.

Well, DMC 5's story hasn't got to be the best in the series. But, make it anything other than some human hell-bent on gaining vast amounts of demonic power. Don't create more unnecessary plot holes; if Vergil comes back, explain how.

Give it plenty of missions, but no going through the same areas over and over again. And a nice mixture of different environments. Other than weapons and gameplay, I can't think of much else to say.

If they're going to commit to over an hour's worth of cutscenes, instead of the twenty minutes worth of cutscenes in DMC1, then it should at least be a decent story. Just because Capcom has never successfully told a good story with this series doesn't mean they aren't trying.

Maybe someone from Atlus or Intelligent Systems should come in to lend a hand.

Also, regarding this whole Nero VS Bianco theory...wouldn't Nero be the one with black hair, since his name is the Italian word for "black"? Same opposite standing for Bianco, since THAT means "white" in Italian as well?

I dunno. @Foxtrot94, you're an Italian...can you confirm this?

Right now, I'm just glad there is evidence to support Capcom making another DMC game and I'm not too worried about the specifics yet.

I leave that for when something concrete comes.

Even if DMC has problems storywise they are problems that other franchises suffer from. A lot of complaints about Nero also apply to Arno the lead of Assassins creed Unity and if you wanna complain about going on tangents, Metal Gear Solid and Kingdom Hearts wave hello.

I wouldn't mind seeing DMC getting outside talent because Jake's story arc in RE6 was Nero/DMC3 Dante done better and MvC3 had a writer from Marvel come in and work on the interactions and cutscenes so you could bring him back or get someone from the same pool. (I can make a list)

TBH, Assasin's creed, God of War, etc gets away with terrible story for more than 3 years in row and nobody cares. So honestly nobody cares if it wont be "shakespearean writing" or not.

Well, I mean, if they keep their history with DMC's stories (DMC1 ok, DMC2 not really, DMC3 ok again, DMC4 not so okay again) going, the next one should be another ok. LOLOLOL

Yeah, "nero" means black and "bianco" means white, but I think that's the point. I think both I and @Dante Deve Morire were joking on word opposition.

I don't think DMC4 story is so terrible as everyone makes it out to be. Most of complaints about it surrounding those who sorry for lack of another word are butthurt about Nero and his attitude. If story of DMC5 will be on par with either DMC1, 3 or 4, its completely fine imho. (Well DMC2 would be fine too if there was actually some character communication in it, instead of stonfaced Dante.)

wouldn't bianca be a more realistic and actually existing name?
