The folks over at IGN have got a nice little poll going whereby you can vote for your favourite hero from Devil May Cry or God of War. That’s right, it’s a poll that begs the question: Who is better, Dante or Kratos? Who is your favourite?
Me, personally, I’m a big fan of both the Devil May Cry series and God of War series, but I’ve always preferred the Devil May Cry series so my allegiance must lie with Dante. The fact that I run a Devil May Cry websiet also helps influence my decision ever so slightly… ;)

Hi, Im a fan of both of them,but in story GOW in more powerful than DMC but between dante and kratos,dante in more popular than kratos,but if in DMC4 dante will be defeat by Nero,that will destroy all that capcom vas created,cause DMC means DANTE and DANTE means DMC,I hope in DMC4 capcom wont destroy anything that earns in these years.

I’m gonna say this: Dante is indeed a badass character. He can endure much pain, however, he has not gone through the same things Kratos has. He has not had to really SUFFER as much as Kratos.
Dante may be able to be stabbed through his chest [Multiple times] and live, but he’s never died and fought his way back out of hell.

Hey I happen to have played both, but I gotta say that devil may cry(especially the 3rd) beats gow and gow2. to say that Dante has been through less suffering then kratos is bull**** since Dante has been in hell more then kratos and still returned, Dante is a half-devil and besides, Kratos is a fool, he wants only power for himself and kills everyone in his path. yeah kratos did lose his family and stuff, but Dante lost his mother, his brother(Vergil) and he doesnt even know his father(personnally)he knows its Sparda but still he fights to protect humans, not killing them for the fun of it. Plus Dante fights with a sword, two guns and his Sweet attitude.My choice? Dante. he’s the Jackpot.

Dante is far more powerful the and he is only a Half-demon. Kratos is a human that got his powers from “gods” without he would be nothing. Also, so what if kratos went to hell and back. Dante has too, and he went on his own free will. One more thing that bugs me is the God of War looked more like a DMC ripoff. (Maybe thats just me) So let me put it like this so idiots understand: Dante Vs. Kratos, winner Dante.

If you care to take notice, Kratos was a half-god from birth, Zeus being his father. If we were to truly get into a debate about Kratos v. Dante, we would have to heavily consider the idea of Zeus v. Sparda, and honestly, I feel that there is no way a demon, regardless of how powerful, could realistically stand up to a god. In the end though, I’d be pulling for Dante, just so he could craft Kratos’ soul into yet another badass weapon.
Dante would win hands down. Plus, the DMC series is kickass! It’s way cooler than GOW will ever be. And Dante is Half-Demon… what could beat that?
I think Kratos has suffered more than Dante. They both lost their families, but Kratos was tricked into killing his. Dante did kill his brother as far as we know, but theres a difference between killing someone in a duel and striking down a wife and child. Also everyone has either turned on Kratos (I suspect in GOW3 the Titans will do so as well) or died while Dante still has people on his side (Trish, Lady, Nero). So to who has gone through worse it would be Kratos. But this only means were these two characters were to face off then Kratos would be the villian. As his greif has turned into hatred and is purely out for blood while Dante protects the world.
To who I like more. Dante, hands down. He’s more entertaining as a character while Kratos is a clasic tragedy.
As for an actual battle, we have to take into account circumstances. If Kratos was only a mortal with his chaos blades then Dante would win. If it’s at the time when he’s a Greek god then Dante would have a struggle. If it’s post GOW2 with the Blade of Olympus then it’d be close, Dante might come out on top but it’d take a lot out of him.
devil may cry well better than GOW i Have had all DMC games and all of GOW games and the story to devil may cry games are well better than the story of gow because devil may cry games have different weopons and gow only has 3 so i choose my man dante and nero off of DMC4

Dnate is not the son of just ANY demon!! He's the son of Sparda! The one who defeated Mundus and sealed him with all the other demons away. Besides, isnt Zeus the god of like lightning or something?! just becuase he's the 'leader' doesnt mean hes all powerful. Wasn't hades supposed to rule? Sooo? Just because kratos was a son of a god doesn't prove anything. Dante's dad, Sparda, was like a god too, right? I mean he did DEFEAT THE PRINCE OF DARKNESS! And Dante defeated him too. But…..some people have said that Dante's strength and power are GREATER then his own father! OWN FATHER! And that's actually a fact because he has hummanity, a soul. TEAM DANTE!!

err guys i think its dante’s twin brother but since this article is about dante and kratos its defintely dante because
1.Dante got stabbed multiply times and he survived.
2.If he went Sparada mode he would pwn kratos.
3.He defeated the 2 most powerful bosses which are Mundus and Vergil
Kratos is son of the kings of gods an dante is son of the king of the demons so I think that,
kratos:
is strong, have the ability to control the powers of gods and he is now more powerful because he get the sword of olympus.
Dante:
is quick, and have the ability to control some demons powers and when he is in demon mode he is VERY powerful, but he get the legendary sword of sparda.
Conclution:
They are very powerful, but obviusly I prefer dante…

Kratos is half-god and he is strong,but just look Dante’s Half-Breed in DMC 2 and that’s all !
